Our Technology

OCT

Your eyes can now be examined in previously unimaginable detail, as we can actually see below the surface! Hopefully you have previously had photographs taken of the back of your eyes - the retina. The OCT will take a more detailed photograph in the same way, giving us a 3D, cross-sectional scan of the retina in one sitting.

It is non-invasive, painless and quick!   The images are stored for future reference, and compared to your next scan to monitor the health of your eyes. If you would like to experience the OCT please let us know at the time of booking as this test requires additional time.

Visual Field Analysis

Our Henson 9000 visual field analyser is the latest piece of equipment to furnish our consulting room. This device measures the extent and sensitivity of the visual field. There are a number of tests we can perform from basic screening to in-depth analysis.

Corneal Topography

The corneal topographer allows visualisation of the curvature of the cornea. Due to the transparency of the cornea it is impossible to assess the curvature without this device. Irregular curvatures can be due to certain eye diseases which could be better managed once corneal topography is performed. We also use this device for complex contact lens fitting including OrthoK.

For patients who want deeper insight into their eye health—recommended for those with a family history of eye conditions or complex prescriptions.

  • Everything in the Routine Eye Examination, plus:
  • Retinal Photography
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) - Retina: Advanced imaging of the retina for early detection of conditions like glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Advanced Eye Examination

Our most detailed assessment, ideal for patients requiring full diagnostic analysis or those under monitoring for specific conditions.

  • Everything in the Enhanced Eye Examination, plus:
  • OCT – Cornea: Full-depth scanning of both the retina and cornea.
  • Advanced Visual Field Analysis: Precise mapping of your peripheral vision to assess nerve function and detect early signs of glaucoma or neurological issues.
